Associate Counsel - Corporate Headquarters

Investment Property Group (IPG) and Sage Apartment Communities are seeking an Associate Counsel with real estate experience to join our in-house legal team. Our corporate headquarters is located in Irvine, CA. This position will be working with recognized experts in the real estate, mobile home, conventional multifamily and affordable housing sectors. The Associate Counsel position is a mid-level classification with responsibilities for assisting the General Counsel and Senior staff in providing general legal assistance to our real estate company. The attorney will perform a variety of professional legal work and research for various divisions of the company, by providing oral and written advice, assisting the Legal Department with real estate transactions, preparing and reviewing contracts, due diligence, loan documentation, litigation monitoring, insurance claim monitoring, contractor issues, entity formation and structuring, and perform other legal related duties as needed.

• A juris doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• At least three (3) years of relevant or transferable experience in providing legal counsel, contracts, research and writing, client interactions and providing advice on a multitude of legal issues with a focus on transactional and other real estate related matters.
• Demonstrate skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate skill to analyze problems and identify alternative solutions; provide accurate and practical legal advice; effectively present legal positions; negotiate and implement real estate transactions through completion; work with various departments of the company including management, construction, risk assessment, financing and acquisition
• Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with private and public attorneys, company employees and the public.
• Demonstrate highest quality legal work and strong work ethic.
• Demonstrate ability to work as an effective member of a legal team.
• Demonstrate ability to operate a computer to input, retrieve and access information.
• Must successfully pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check.
• Extremely well organized with a high attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent working knowledge Microsoft Office products
